Sime~Gen Roleplaying: Householding Naros Scenario
Episode #84: I Haven't Met a Horse I Don't Like (12/19/98)
Thamisa ambrov Naros goes toward the stables.
Thamisa is a young female renSime who doesn't have any particular reason to go to the stables other than, someone asked her something she didn't know the answer to and she wants to snoop around to find out more.
Thamisa also has been curious to meet Rachel, who doesn't seem to get out much.
Rachel is cleaning stalls and doing the usual barn work.
Thamisa surveys the situation and realizes that every single time she comes to the stables, somebody is mucking out stalls and wiping down horses.
Thamisa thinks being a stable hand must be dreadfully monotonous.
Rachel: Good morning Thamisa.
Thamisa smiles.
Thamisa: Hi, Rachel.
Thamisa assumes it's Rachel since it's somebody new to Naros who she doesn't recognize, and is in the stables.
Thamisa wouldn't want to sound like she didn't know who someone was, after all.
Rachel stops work.
Rachel: What can I do for you today?
Thamisa: Oh, I was just... stopping by to see how everything is.
Thamisa tries to zlin whether the stalls are all full.
Rachel: Everything is very busy, but well. On snowy days with the horses confined, you've got to keep after them.
Rachel: You can only let them out for short periods of time.
Thamisa: At least the horses the Sectuib took aren't here.
Thamisa is probing for hints dropped about the Sectuib, and the others' whereabouts and possible schedule of return.
Thamisa doesn't actually know for a fact that they haven't returned, but presumably it would be on every tongue if they had.
Rachel: ~~curious~~ You don't like those particular horses?
Thamisa pauses.
Thamisa: ~~utter confusion~~
Thamisa: Excuse me?
Rachel: Well, I haven't met a horse I don't like.
Thamisa gives Rachel a weird look.
Thamisa: OK.
Thamisa: I guess that's good since you work in a stable.
Rachel: Actually, I have no idea when they'll be back, or Sectuib either.
Rachel: It's honest work, but there are probably more interesting jobs.
Rachel: What are your aspirations?
Thamisa: ~bewildered~
Thamisa: Well... I've been working in the ag records department. That's OK work.
Thamisa: I'd like to get married and have a kid maybe.
Rachel nods.
Thamisa is stumped for anything else to say to Rachel at this point.
Rachel: Well the Ag department here is very important.
Thamisa: So, um, you say you don't know when they'll.... yeah, I guess it is.
Rachel smiles "And I bet you have your eye on someone already for the future."
Thamisa: Well, um, not really, I was dating Numa but he turned out to be my 3/4 brother.
Thamisa hopes to get her hands on a newcomer but so far, no luck.
Rachel: What a shame. Still, there may be someone for all of us one of these days.
Thamisa: Well, yeah, I guess,
Rachel: We can only hope that.
Rachel: Did you want to ride this morning? It doesn't seem too icy right now.
Rachel wonders why the visit from Thamisa, and assumes the logical reason for it.
Thamisa: Oh! No, I have to go to work in a little bit.
Thamisa like many Narosians doesn't think of the stables as party central.
Rachel: Well, I'm glad you stopped by for a visit. It's usually so quiet here.
Thamisa: OK, well, I'll talk to you later then.
Rachel: Yes. That would be nice.
Thamisa leaves, having been frustrated in her quest.
Rachel turns back to her work.
Trouble reaches over the door of his stall and catches Rachel's pony tail in his teeth.
Rachel: ~~pain~~
Rachel carefully extracts her hair.
Trouble noses her fingers.
Rachel: "What's the big idea?" [stepping out of range]
Trouble blinks at Rachel.
Rachel thinks this might be one horse she'll have second thoughts about.
Trouble is bored, bored, bored.
Trouble doesn't like snow and doesn't like stalls.
Rachel: [to Trouble] I'll just have to find a way to win you over.
Trouble sniffs the top of his door.
Rachel thinks this is unlikely, because some horses have an attitude.
Trouble wishes he were pulling a plow.
Trouble snorts, shaking his head and sending spatters of ugh about the corridor.
Rachel finishes her work.
Rachel: Maybe bribery will work. I'll bring you something later on.
Rachel pats his head and then heads into the main building.
