Sime/Gen Roleplaying: Householding Naros Scenario
Episode #19: My Brain 'Urts (9/22/98)
Eliza wakes up - maybe "comes to" is a better term - with a raging headache and no idea where she is or why she is missing some articles of clothing.
Eliza: Ohhhh, my head.
Eliza looks at the empty bottle on its side on the desk.
Eliza looks at what looks like a pair of underpants, her underpants, on the light shade.
Eliza: Waaaa????
Eliza begins to remember bits of what happened. She remembers having transfer with Riyyh, no, that can't be right, can it? She must have, he was post... then Mytag came in and had post with him - no, that can't be right either.
Wise Snake makes sure nothing too disastrous is happening in her office and then heads back upstairs to Riyyh's office since everybody [read: Tictoc] seems so worried about Eliza.
Wise Snake walks into the office and surveys the scene: Eliza sitting there looking dazed (and zlinning headachy)... underwear on the light fixture, broken objects lying around, etc.
Wise Snake shakes her head.
Wise Snake zlins to make sure there was no permanent physical damage or... [OK it's practically impossible but around here you really have to make sure] ... impregnation.
Wise Snake is relieved to find none.
Eliza: You can murder me, but please, just don't yell!
Eliza holds her head together with her hands.
Wise Snake studies Eliza.
Wise Snake: Care to tell me your interpretation of how this fit into my asking you to make sure nothing happened to Riyyh?
Wise Snake: [not yelling]
Eliza: Is he all right?
Wise Snake: I don't know, Eliza, I sent Wolfa after him to make sure he is OK.
Eliza: Oh.
Wise Snake plucks Eliza's underwear off the light and tosses it to the Gen, mostly because the sight of it up there is irritating her unnecessarily.
Eliza climbs to her feet and sways a bit. She catches the underwear with her face, her reflexes definitely not being up to using any other part of her body to do so.
Wise Snake grunts.
Eliza plucks her pants off her face and holds them hopelessly.
Eliza: I guess you are pretty mad huh.
Wise Snake: Well, this was a bit more in the direction of chaos and calamity than I'd had in mind, yes.
Wise Snake spots the copy of "Way of the Nager" in the corner where she'd hurled it earlier, and goes to pick it up.
Eliza has actually learnt a lot about nager control in the last 12 hours, although she probably won't be in any fit state to demonstrate it for a while.
Eliza licks her lips thirstily.
Eliza: Is there any water in here?
Wise Snake: The reason I wanted my people to stay with Riyyh is that none of his own can be trusted to keep him safe.
Wise Snake looks around, then points at the bathroom.
Eliza weaves into the bathroom and sticks her head under the tap.
Wise Snake goes over to the liquor cabinet, puts the strays inside, and locks it.
Wise Snake pockets the key figuring Riyyh doesn't require any more of it either.
Eliza drinks some water and douses her head.
Wise Snake is usually pretty good at avoiding Porstan and its ilk herself, with one or two memorable exceptional incidents.
Eliza towels her head, very gently, and comes back into the main room.
Eliza picks up a pillow and puts it back where it came from, finds the copy of the book that Riyyh wanted her to read and puts it on his desk, looks around for "the way of the Nager" and sees it in Snake's hand.
Tictoc pokes her head cautiously into the room where Snake and Eliza are clearing up.
Wise Snake looks at the book, and then at Eliza.
Wise Snake sets the book aside.
Wise Snake: Ah... Tictoc. I can explain.
Wise Snake: ~~defensive~~
Tictoc: Hajene Farris? Here... [ hands her the note ]
Tictoc doesn't want to know.
Tictoc: I'm heading up to the house now.
Tictoc: [to Eliza] Would you like some aspirin?
Eliza: No thanks, it gives me a headache.
Eliza shakes her head, causing her brain to slosh around wetly.
Tictoc: Aspirin gives you a headache? ~ disbelief ~
Eliza nods, causing it to slosh in the other direction.
Tictoc waits for Snake to read the note from Wolfa.
Wise Snake reads it.
Wise Snake: I see.
Wise Snake: Let me know what you find out, then.
Wise Snake hopes Riyyh will be able to carry out his end of the deal because she has been running herself ragged getting these people into a frame of mind where one-on-one meetings wouldn't result in serial murder of one victim.
Tictoc: You don't want to come up yourself?
Wise Snake raises an eyebrow.
Wise Snake: Do you think I should?
Wise Snake had been under the impression that the Naros higher-ups thought she meddled too much already.
Tictoc: I'll handle it. When do you need him back on board?
Tictoc had been under the impression that Hajene Farris thought that none of them could tie their own shoelaces without her assistance.
Wise Snake: His first meeting is in an hour and a half.
Wise Snake: I didn't think his transfer was until tomorrow.
Wise Snake: Let me know immediately if you think they'll have to be rescheduled.
Wise Snake crosses some tentacles that that will not be necessary.
Wise Snake automatically checks Tictoc's shoelaces to make sure they're tied correctly.
Tictoc: It wasn't. But he had been under a considerable strain.
Tictoc: He will make it. It mightn't seem like it to you, but Riyyh is a very strong person.
Wise Snake raises an eyebrow but keeps the skepticism from her nager.
Wise Snake: Great.
Tictoc: I'll get back to you.
Tictoc disappears.
Wise Snake looks at Eliza, and picks up the "Way of the Nager" once again.
Wise Snake: And as for you....
Eliza looks at Snake and doesn't cringe [ for once ]
Wise Snake: I hope you learn something from what happened.
Wise Snake puts the book on the chair near Eliza and turns to leave.
Eliza learned an awful lot, some of which she will probably never tell Snake about!
Eliza picks up the book and mumbles something.
