Sime~Gen Roleplaying: Two Roads Diverged Scenario
Episode #73: The Heat of the Road (9/2/98)
Tanzarra watches Nully and Neffy.
Eliza holds Flossie back until she is knee to knee with Trigger.
Eliza: How are you going, Zarra?
Tanzarra: All right, I'm just keeping an eye on those two.
Tanzarra points to the twins.
Eliza looks to where Bumanuel is now sharing Linn's horse.
Tanzarra: And how are you going?
Neffy holds on to Nully's waist as he makes Pumpkin trot a few steps.
Eliza wishes she could zlin.
Eliza: When is your transfer due?
Tanzarra: Soon.
Tanzarra is trying not to think about it at the moment.
Eliza wishes that they were somewhere nicer for Tanzarra, instead of having to just have it by the side of the road or something.
Eliza: Maybe we should have stayed at that Center until after you had had transfer.
Eliza: ~ worry ~
Tanzarra: No, I think Snake wanted to get out of there real quick.
Tanzarra: Hey, I'll be all right.
Eliza smiles at her.
Eliza: Of course you will. Snake's the best.
Eliza: ~ worry ~
Tanzarra: Well stop worrying then.
Neffy: Stop it Nully! I'll fall off.
Tanzarra tries an unsuccessful smile.
Tanzarra zlins the twins to see what's going on with them.
Nully wants to get up front and lead.
Nully: Well hang on tighter then! Sheesh, Gens.
Eliza: I'm not worried.
Eliza: ~ worry ~
Tanzarra: ~~ Nully slow down ~~
Nully glares back resentfully at Tanzarra.
Tanzarra waits to see if Nully responds before calling after him.
Nully slows Pumpkin down again.
Tanzarra: ~~ good ~~
Tanzarra: Nully is going to have to learn to look after his sister a bit better than that.
Eliza: He will, after he hits turnover.
Eliza remembers that she has to have a talk to Neffy sometime - alone.
Tanzarra: Yes. He will soon learn.
Tanzarra: Neffy was asking a lot of questions about field manipulation in class.
Eliza: What did you tell her?
Tanzarra: Well, the main thing I told her was that she would have to learn control.
Eliza: ~ twinge of embarrassment ~
Eliza: Yes?
Tanzarra: I told her, as well as the others, that they could influence the Simes around them with their fields.
Tanzarra: I didn't go into great detail.
Eliza: Do you think that was wise?
Tanzarra: I didn't want them running around wreaking havoc on the Simes at the Center.
Tanzarra: I zlinned that they were all pretty mature in their wanting to know.
Eliza hopes that Neffy doesn't try any of that on Snake.
Tanzarra: I only told them the basics so they won't go upsetting anyone.
Eliza: ~ nervous ~
Tanzarra: What?
Eliza: I'm just remembering when I first got to Bender Cove. Alea told me about Genslamming and I sort of, well, ummm, slammed Snake a bit.
Eliza doesn't go on to tell how she slammed Snake at other times.
Tanzarra: Oh, well I only taught them what every newly Established Gen has to learn.
Tanzarra: ~~ nervous ~~
Tanzarra: Well I would never teach a new Gen that.
Tanzarra thinks, unless their life was in immediate danger.
Eliza: Yeah, it probably wasn't the right thing to tell me at that time! I was pretty distressed.
Eliza: I'm sure she meant well, though.
Eliza: ~ doubtful ~
Tanzarra: I don't think Neffy would want to do that to Nully, but she won't take his attitude the same way she has been.
Eliza: Oh? What's wrong with his attitude?
Eliza looks at Nully again.
Tanzarra: Haven't you noticed?
Eliza: He is a bit bossy. But he is her brother. I thought it was just, you know, brother and sister stuff.
Tanzarra: No, it's a little more than that.
Tanzarra: He sees himself superior to her because he's Sime and she's Gen.
Tanzarra: He doesn't mean to, I think that is how he was taught.
Eliza: We are pretty far In-Territory here. You and me, we grew up in a different world. At home, Simes were, well you know....
Eliza: But here, Gens are - well, were... I mean, it wasn't that long ago that they weren't even considered human.
Tanzarra: Yes....
Tanzarra knows too well.
Eliza: So I guess his reaction to him being Sime and her being Gen are normal, for his upbringing.
Eliza: Tell me, they are twins. Are they close, in field I mean?
Tanzarra: ~~ engages Eliza's field for support ~~
Tanzarra: Yes they are. There could be dependency problems.
Tanzarra shudders.
Tanzarra at the thought of the dependency.
Eliza: Would it matter much?
Eliza: ~ surprised ~
Eliza: I mean, they aren't working for the Tecton, and if they are twins....
Eliza: Couldn't they just stay together?
Tanzarra: ~~ fight her reluctance to stay with Eliza's field ~~
Tanzarra sighs as she stays with it.
Tanzarra: Well, there could be trouble if either one di......
Tanzarra can't bring herself to say it.
Eliza: Oh....
Tanzarra: If they want to go to the Tecton they will be separated, twins or not.
Eliza: I wonder what the Householding is like?
Tanzarra: I have no idea.
Tanzarra: For their sake, I hope they are all right.
Eliza: It would have been nice to have grown up in a Householding, wouldn't it. Not caring if you were going to be Sime or Gen.
Tanzarra: Yes, it would.
Nully pushes Pumpkin up until he is riding next to Freelove.
Nully much prefers to be up near the lead.
Eliza: I hope that we can stay in this Householding for a while. I hope they let us.
Tanzarra: Well, let's see what we find before we start hoping for things.
Eliza: It's odd, but I'm sure I have heard the name Naros before, but I can't remember where.
Tanzarra: Maybe you met someone from there.
Wise Snake: There were two Sime Center employees from Naros. Mytag and Ison.
Wise Snake: In Bender Cove.
Wise Snake has a sharp memory for faces, names and personal trivia, especially the exploitable type trivia.
Eliza: That's it!
Eliza: Ison! He was Ison ambrov Naros! and Mytag too.
Eliza: I had forgotten.
Eliza: Yes. I had forgotten about them.
Eliza: Yes. I had forgotten about them.
Tanzarra: What were they like?
Eliza hadn't noticed that Snake had dropped back.
Eliza: Well, Ison was sort of cute....
Eliza: Mytag was very relaxed sort of person. I don't remember seeing him get upset over anything. Do you Snake?
Wise Snake: Yes.
Eliza: You do? When?
Tanzarra: ~~ curious ~~
Wise Snake: Well, it was at the Bender Cove Sime Center... I don't suppose that's a fair test.
Wise Snake: I would be surprised if anybody has ever kept their cool full-time there.
Eliza would be surprised if anyone kept their sanity full-time there.
Eliza: So we are going to their Householding.
Eliza: I don't remember them saying much about it, except that it was a farming type Household.
Eliza: Do you think they might have some meat there?
Eliza: ~ wistful ~
Wise Snake: I doubt it, but you can never tell. Some Householders are pretty shenned eccentric.
Wise Snake is thinking of Zeor and V'lar, the two Houses with which she is most familiar.
Tanzarra: ~~ shock ~~
Tanzarra: Meat?
Tanzarra: Eliza!!
Tanzarra feels her stomach churn.
Wise Snake wonders how somebody raised deep out-Territory could have developed such a fussy attitude about the substance.
Wise Snake shakes her head.
Eliza: Well, if we aren't suppose to eat animals, what are they made out of meat for?
Tanzarra: Oh! How can you even think of it.
Wise Snake: Why shouldn't she?
Eliza: Didn't you eat meat as a kid?
Tanzarra remembers when she did.
Tanzarra: yeah... I did.. but now it makes me feel so .....
Wise Snake thinks Tanzarra's lucky she never met Loylic.
Tanzarra: Well Eliza, if they do have it at this household, you're eating alone.
Tanzarra grins at Eliza.
Eliza: I think Linn might want some too. She said something about ham the other day.
Eliza finds that her mouth is watering.
Wise Snake: Don't get your hopes up, Eliza. It is pretty unlikely they'd produce it even at a Householding.
Eliza: Oh.
Wise Snake: I have heard of people importing small tins from Gen Territory for their personal use in an isolated spot, though.
Wise Snake: Say, out in a large, deserted field on a not-very-windy day.
Eliza giggles.
Tanzarra: If you two will excuse, me I'll just go and see how the twins are going.
Wise Snake nods.
Tanzarra disengages from Eliza's field and heads off to the twins.
Eliza: I can't believe how much people can't eat when they become Sime. I had to stop the kids yesterday from eating all sorts of things.
Eliza looks at Zarra and wonders if she should go with her. She gets the feeling that this is one of those times when Tanzarra wants to be alone.
Wise Snake: There are actually many things Simes can eat that you probably don't know about. Foods grown only in Sime Territory or even poisonous to Gens.
Eliza: Will they have them at the Householding, at Naros? How will I know?
Eliza: Linn won't know either will she?
Eliza: ~ worry ~
Wise Snake: Eliza, you've been living in Sime Territory for months. You've been surrounded by those foods.
Eliza: I have?
Eliza hadn't noticed.
Eliza: I guess I have just been eating what I'm used to.
Wise Snake nods.
Wise Snake: Well, if you do decide to become adventurous, always ask somebody if something is OK to eat.
Eliza: So just don't get adventurous right?
Wise Snake: That isn't what I said.
Eliza: All right, Snake.
Eliza: When do we get there?
Eliza wiggles in the saddle and can't wait to not get on a horse for a few days [maybe more!]
Wise Snake: We're almost back to where we were camped before.
Flossie decides that she hasn't seen such a handsome fellow in ages and neighs softly to Freelance.
Eliza: Will we be camping there again tonight?
Wise Snake: No!
Wise Snake would rather ride all night than risk getting stuck there again for 3 days
Flossie wiggles her behind at Freelance.
Wise Snake has a brief argument with Freelance about whether Flossie is in heat or not.
Wise Snake sighs as Freelance straightens out... for the time being, anyway.
