Sime/Gen Roleplaying: Two Roads Diverged Scenario
Episode #23: No Use Crying over Spilled Beans (6/18/98)
Eliza takes hold of Flossie's reins and slows Trigger down so that they drop back.
Eliza: Are you okay, Tanzarra?
Tanzarra droops in the saddle.
Eliza: ~ support ~
Tanzarra: I don't know. It's just....
Eliza: ~ sympathy ~
Tanzarra: I feel empty inside.
Tanzarra feels as if a part of her is missing.
Eliza: I know what you mean. After my cousin John died I just, well, existed. Like I wasn't really there and it was just my shell doing things.
Eliza: I know it's hard. But it does pass. Snake will make sure that you are okay until you are better.
Tanzarra: Was John a channel?
Eliza: I don't know. We think he probably was.
Eliza: We were in Gen territory you see.
Eliza: John turned Sime, changed over, and we ran away.
Tanzarra: What happened to him?
Eliza fights for control, she doesn't want to shame herself or Snake and she doesn't want to upset Tanzarra.
Eliza: A group of Gens murdered him.
Tanzarra senses Daisy's discomfort.
Tanzarra shivers.
Tanzarra: And you saw this happen?
Eliza nods.
Tanzarra: ~ sympathy ~
Tanzarra remembers when the same thing nearly happened to her.
Eliza: Do you want to talk about your Companion? Or would you prefer not?
Eliza notices everything around her, the way the trees are growing new leaves, the way Flossie is behaving, the way Trigger isn't limping, everything to stop her remembering what happened.
Tanzarra zlins Daisy's distress.
Tanzarra: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you.
Eliza: Oh it was some time ago now. I don't want to upset you.
Tanzarra: I don't think I could feel any worse.
Tanzarra smiles a little.
Eliza: You have to look forward, not back. I'm sure that is what your Companion would say if she were here.
Tanzarra: Yes, it's exactly what she would have said.
Eliza: You were matchmates?
Tanzarra: Yes, we were.
Tanzarra: We also had a dependency. 1
Eliza: I'm sorry. But Snake's the best, she really is. She will get you through this.
Tanzarra: Snake?
Eliza: ~ shock ~
Eliza: What?
Eliza: ~ control damn it control ~
Tanzarra: ~ curious ~
Tanzarra: Yes, You called Hajene Snake.
Eliza: I did?
Tanzarra knows she's heard this name but can't place where.
Eliza: Oh.
Eliza: Well.
Eliza: Ummmm. You see, where I came from we call Simes "snakes" and I guess the nickname just stuck.
Eliza: ~ yeah, that's it.... lie ~
Tanzarra zlins Daisy fibbing.
Tanzarra: But she's your channel, why call her something like that?
Eliza: She isn't my channel! Goodness. She can't even stand the touch of my nager.
Eliza points to Nick, riding ahead with Lynn and Griff.
Eliza: That's her Donor, Nick.
Tanzarra: Why? It seems okay to me, except....
Tanzarra ~~ embarrassed ~~
Eliza sighs.
Eliza: I know, believe me, I'm trying.
Eliza: ~ control control ~
Eliza: Nick's helping me, but it's not easy without feedback. ~ hopeful ~ Would you be willing to help me?
Tanzarra: It's just anything other than Soli doesn't feel right.
Eliza: Oh!
Eliza blushes.
Eliza: I thought you were talking about my lack of control!
Tanzarra kicks herself for saying that to Daisy.
Eliza: I worked with a channel one month who was just about physically sick whenever I came near him.
Eliza: That's about when I left the Tecton and went to work for Snake instead.
Eliza doesn't realize that she probably shouldn't have said that....
Tanzarra: Left the Tecton?
Tanzarra: ~~ confused ~~
Eliza: Yes, D'cor gave me such a hard time, and I knew that Snake would give me a place and there was this junct third that she wanted me to work with.
Tanzarra: What's going on?
Eliza: What?
Eliza looks around to see what is going on.
Eliza: I don't see anything, what is it?
Tanzarra: No. With you and this Snake and leaving the Tecton.
Tanzarra: I thought you worked for the Tecton.
Tanzarra thinks something funny's going on here.
Eliza: ~ oops ~
Eliza: Errrr, well, ummmm, you see....
Eliza: ~ oh shen ~
Tanzarra: Hajene... Snake, said that she was filling in for the new Tecton Channel.
Eliza: Yes, she is....
Eliza: But she doesn't work for the Tecton, she works for herself.
Eliza chews on her bottom lip remembering that Snake said she did many illegal things and wonders what they are.
Eliza: But she is really good and will help you more then the Tecton would I'm sure!
Eliza is also sure that Snake is going to murder her for this.
Tanzarra zlins that Daisy isn't quite telling her everything.
Eliza wonders what Bumanuel is doing.
Eliza: I shouldn't have told you that, I don't think.
Tanzarra: So if you are on the run from the Tecton, does Snake know?
Eliza: I think Snake would have preferred to tell you herself.
Eliza: What do you mean?
Eliza: ~ confused ~
Tanzarra: Oh I must have misunderstood what you said. You left, so I assumed they were looking for you too.
Eliza: I don't think so. My controller, Briel, said I could go work with Snake. Of course, she may not have meant for us to leave Bender Cove.
Eliza sighs and wonders what Mos is doing.
Tanzarra zlins that Daisy is sad.
Tanzarra: Daisy, tell me something?
Eliza: [yeah - like what else is left?]
Eliza: Sure.
Tanzarra: Did you want to leave Bender Cove?
Tanzarra has a few questions actually, but doesn't know where to start.
Eliza thinks about it.
Eliza: I have a friend in Bender Cove whom I miss very much.
Eliza: But I would follow Snake anywhere.
Eliza can say this confidently 'cause she has.
Tanzarra: So why did you leave?
Eliza: 'Cause Snake left.
Tanzarra zlins Daisy desperately trying to avoid saying much more.
Tanzarra: So, why did Snake leave?
Eliza: Oh. I don't know.
Eliza: We were coming back from the hospital, that's on the Gen side of the border you see, and Snake just stopped and then we all went to the train station instead of back to the Ferry Building.
Tanzarra: And she didn't say why?
Eliza: Not really. But she zlinned something dangerous to us.
Eliza gets nervous 'cause this is unfamiliar ground.
Tanzarra: And she hasn't told you what it was?
Tanzarra: ~ concern ~
Eliza: She just said... errr, no not really. But there hasn't really been time to worry about that.
Eliza: She gets entran a lot and really bad, so she is always busy.
Tanzarra: Doesn't she get enough work?
Eliza: Well she is a Farris of course.
Tanzarra: I wondered about that.
Eliza: About what?
Tanzarra: I haven't worked with one before.
Eliza: She is very sensitive. I have to be careful around her cause I make her feel awful. I knocked her out once by accident.
Tanzarra: Oh, well you don't make me feel uncomfortable.
Eliza: ~ pleased ~
Eliza: Thank you!
Eliza: You will let me know if I do anything awkward won't you?
Tanzarra: Yes.
Tanzarra: ~~ depressed ~~
Tanzarra slumps a little as she thinks of Soli.
Eliza presses Trigger closer to Flossie and puts her hand on Tanzarra's arm.
Tanzarra allows it.
Eliza realizes that they have dropped a LONG way back from Nick and the others but doesn't think it's important to catch up at the moment.
Tanzarra: ~~ feels soothing ~~
Tanzarra rests on Daisy's support.
Eliza: ~ I'm here ~
Tanzarra: ~~ relaxes more ~~
Eliza thinks she better let up before Tanzarra relaxes right off the horse.
Tanzarra: You know, Daisy, that does feel good.
Tanzarra straightens back up as she was leaning into Daisy.
Eliza: Who?
Eliza looks around to see if there is a cow close.
Tanzarra: ~~ confused ~~
Tanzarra again.
Tanzarra: Daisy! I was talking to you. There is no one else around.
Eliza: Oh! Well, that's just a nickname too. I'm really Eliza.
Eliza: I guess it's okay to tell you, as it looks like you will be with us for awhile.
Eliza: Like Scud there, his real name is Nick. And Linn isn't really his wife.
Eliza: And Griff is NOT my cousin!
Tanzarra: So what would you prefer to be called?
Eliza: Eliza. That's my name. Daisy was our milk cow. I don't know why Snake called me that.
Tanzarra: Well, you called her Snake.
Eliza: That's her name.
Eliza: Really, I'm not kidding.
Eliza: Wise Snake Farris.
Eliza: Odd hey?
Tanzarra: Oh.
Tanzarra has no answer to that.
Tanzarra: Do you really think she will help me?
Tanzarra: Yesterday she said I should wait for her replacement.
Eliza: Of course! I've never seen her turn down anyone who came to her for help.
Eliza: Well, she probably thinks it's better for you to go back to the Tecton.
Tanzarra: It might be better, but that doesn't mean I want to do it.
Tanzarra would rather eat strawberries.
Eliza: I know, the Tecton is awfully stuffy.
Eliza: They tried to stop Mostan and I getting together after we had transfer!
Eliza blushes.
Tanzarra: They break the rules and then treat you as if you did it.
Eliza: Yeah.
Tanzarra: ~~ hatred ~~
Eliza: I'm sure if you told Snake how you felt she would look after you.
Eliza: ~ hopeful ~
Tanzarra: They put Soli with me knowing we were matchmates, then got upset when we formed a dependency.
Eliza: Maybe she will even let us have transfer sometime, you know, once you are well enough.
Tanzarra: ~~ anger ~~
Eliza: Why did they do that?
Tanzarra: ~~ Fear at thought of Gen transfer ~~
Tanzarra: Well.......
Tanzarra: I killed at changeover.
Eliza: ~ sympathy ~
Tanzarra: ~~ guilt ~~
Eliza: ~ support ~
Tanzarra: After disjunction I had trouble taking transfer from Gens.
Eliza: You are afraid you might want to kill again?
Tanzarra: Not so much that I'll want to, but just that I might.
Eliza: But you can't kill a trained Donor.
Tanzarra: I know that logically, but if I think I can perceive the slightest discomfort I instinctively abort.
Eliza: Why would they feel discomfort?
H'ron sees riders and yells for them to stop.
H'ron is a little boy about 7 years old.
Tanzarra: Apparently they didn't, I perceived they did.
Eliza looks over at the screaming kid.
Eliza: Zarra? You zlin anything?
Tanzarra looks up to see who is screaming.
Eliza reins Trigger in.
H'ron yells again and starts running towards the horses hoping that they have heard him and that they are not juncts.
Tanzarra: ~~ shock at being called Zarra ~~
Eliza swings Trigger around towards him.
Tanzarra freezes and stares at Eliza in shock.
Eliza: What's wrong there?
Eliza: [to the kid]
H'ron relaxes as he realizes that the Gen isn't in chains.
Eliza: You okay?
Tanzarra snaps out of it.
Tanzarra: Yeah, I'll explain later.
Tanzarra: What's wrong?
Tanzarra to the child.
H'ron: Joad is hiding from the juncts and he's hurt real bad. He needs help.
Tanzarra goes into channel's mode.
Eliza: Juncts? Where?
Eliza: How far away is Joad?
Eliza: Give me your hand and hop up behind me, it will be quicker.
Eliza reaches down to the boy.
Tanzarra: You lead the way.
H'ron: Joad's my brother. He tried to stop the juncts from taking me sister, and now there after him. And he's hurt.
Eliza: Shen! What about your sister?
Tanzarra: Ok, lets see what we can do.
Eliza: Tell us where Joad is, don't worry, Tanzarra here is a channel, she can help.
H'ron points in a direction that's roughly back the way they have come.
H'ron: He's down that way, hiding. And it's too late for my sister.
Eliza: Hold on tight.
Eliza kicks Trigger into a canter knowing that Flossie will follow anyway.
Eliza curses the fact that she is low field and hangs on to the knowledge that they probably can't kill her anyway.
Eliza worries about that "probably".
Eliza: Let me know where to go!
Tanzarra kicks her horse and follows.
Tanzarra hopes that she can work with Eliza.
Joad peers out from under the log upon hearing his brother's voice.
Eliza pulls up a few yards away.
Joad: [Almost the first thing he sees is Tanzarra's tentacles and he lets loose an almighty scream]
Joad: AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Eliza lifts the kid down and slips off after him. She keeps hold of Trigger, not wanting to lose the horses if there are juncts around.
Tanzarra: ~~ fear ~~
Eliza: Oh shen.
Eliza does what she can to blanket the ambient and hopes she is getting it right.
Tanzarra jerks at the Gen's fear.
Tanzarra: Ahhhh.
Joad: ~ terror ~
Eliza: Here, tie up the horses while I settle him down.
Tanzarra's tentacles are retracted tightly.
Eliza hands the reins to Tanzarra.
Tanzarra: ~~ pain ~~
Eliza approaches the Gen with her arms out showing her non-tentacled state.
Eliza: It's okay, we are here to help you.
Tanzarra tries to concentrate on what Eliza is saying.
Eliza: Tanzarra is a channel, she will make you better, don't be frightened.
Eliza: See? I'm Gen, like you. Don't be afraid.
Joad is a mass of bruises and is broadcasting a confusing mixture of hate, pain and fear.
Tanzarra takes the reins and ties the horses to another log.
Eliza: ~ soothing ~
Eliza: Don't be afraid, we are here to help you, not hurt you.
Tanzarra stands behind Eliza until the kid has calmed down.
Eliza: We will protect you [I hope]
Joad: Who... who are you?
Eliza: My name is Eliza and this is Tanzarra, she is a channel. She won't hurt you.
Eliza: Just let her zlin you to see where you are hurt okay?
Tanzarra: I can help you if you let me.
Eliza: It won't hurt, I promise.
Tanzarra stays behind Eliza.
Tanzarra: But you have to calm down and control your fear.
Eliza: Just let us help you. We have horses, we can take you somewhere safe just as soon as we are sure that you are okay.
Tanzarra leans around Eliza a little to zlin the kid's injuries.
Eliza tries to keep the atmosphere calm for Tanzarra.
