<Veraik> Veraik runs. Augments.
<Veraik> Free...Freedom of the wind blowing through his hair.
<Veraik> A plan works through his mind.
<Veraik> Slowly embedding itself into his being.
<Veraik> He turns towards the town of Matreeness, the closest one to Bender Cove but far enough away to be free of Snake's influence.
<Veraik> Also, a place where an 'friend' who owes him a favor resides.
<Lender the Security Man> How may I hel.... oh... it's you! [sneer]
<Veraik> I'm here to call in my favor.
<Lender the Security Man> I'll just bet you are.
<Lender the Security Man> OK. Tell me and let's get it over with.
<Veraik> I am going to write 20 letters which are identical. You are going to mail them in one week unless I get word to you not to do so.
<Veraik> If you get word not to mail them, then you are going to place those letters in a vault for safekeeping until I tell you that you can destroy them.
<Lender the Security Man> And that is all.. [suspicion] What's the catch?
<Veraik> The catch is... actually there are two catches.
<Veraik> Timing and an absolute assurance that only you know about the letters and this meeting.
<Veraik> In particular, there is a channel in Bender Cove who, if she finds out, will try to bribe or steal the letters.
<Veraik> That is not going to happen... UNDERSTOOD.
<Veraik> [zlins for truth while Lender is nodding his head]
<Lender the Security Man> Yes.
<Veraik> Good. Now give me some paper and a pen and provide me with a place to write my letters so I can get out of here.
<Lender the Security Man> [grumbles but gives Veraik what he wants.]
<Lender the Security Man> [growls] There is only one thing, Veraik.
<Veraik> And it is?
<Lender the Security Man> I owe Snake.
Veraik stiffens at the news.
<Lender the Security Man> But..... I owe you a hundred times more than Snake and since this is such an easy job, I will guarantee I will carry your orders out.
Veraik zlins Lender for the truth.
<Veraik> Satisfied, he sits at the desk and begins.
<Veraik> Dear Controller,
<Veraik> I have recently learned that Alea Farris ambrov Zeor is a spy.
<Veraik> She was sent to your Center and to others like yours to cause trouble then to witness how each of you would react.
<Veraik> I know because my Center has also been the victim of this crime.
<Veraik> And I also have proof through the letters I have in my possession.
<Veraik> I am, of course, willing to show these letters to anyone who wants to see them as long as those persons come to the Bender Cove Sime Center where I am the Controller.
<Veraik> Please pass the information on to others about Alea Farris.
<Veraik> It is time that we stop her and the House of Zeor and tell them that they have stepped over the line.
<Veraik> In that light, might I suggest that all bills to the Tecton have an addendum which states that...
<Veraik> in the light of the recent uncovered news, the Tecton should demand any and all reimbursements regarding accidents incurred by Alea Farris ambrov Zeor from her House, the House of Zeor.
<Veraik> Please send any other questions to:
<Veraik> Veraik ambrov Liorie
<Veraik> Controller
<Veraik> Bender Cove Sime Center.
<Veraik> Using augmentation, Veraik copies the letter 20 times then leaves Lender the Security Man's place.
Veraik next contacts the House of Zeor and gets through to the Sectuib.
<Sectuib Farris ambrov Zeor> What do you want Veraik? [angry]
<Veraik> I know about Alea. I know she is a spy.
<Sectuib Farris ambrov Zeor> [silence]
<Veraik> I'm going to expose her.
<Veraik> All of the Centers she has been assigned to will get a letter telling about Zeor and its treachery.
<Veraik> No one will trust Zeor after they read the letter. No one.
<Sectuib Farris ambrov Zeor> If you do that, your career will be over. You will be fighting entran for the rest of your life.
<Veraik> Perhaps.... but your spy will be exposed and the damage will be done.
<Veraik> Your members will all be under suspicion after that.
<Sectuib Farris ambrov Zeor> [bristles] What do you want?
<Veraik> ...besides wanting you to stop stirring up trouble by sending out spies?
<Veraik> ...besides wanting you to stop hurting your Donors especially your Farris Donors by sending them out half trained?
<Veraik> ...besides guaranteeing that no Center that is involved in the problem will be slighted or hurt by the House of Zeor, the members of the House of Zeor, or any member of the Tecton?
<Veraik> I want a guarantee that it won't happen again.
<Veraik> AND.... [holds breath then lets it out slowly]
<Veraik> I want a guarantee that you will always have a Farris Donor for Snake and that Donor will always be there at her side.
<Veraik> And I want a qualified channel who has at least equivalent in speed and capacity for Alea.
<Veraik> I want Alea to have the best maternity care BUT I want that care to be at Bender Cove.
<Veraik> I don't trust what you will do to her or her baby after what you have done to her.
<Veraik> And finally, I want you to swear it on the House of Zeor.
<Sectuib Farris ambrov Zeor> [cold] Are you finished?
<Sectuib Farris ambrov Zeor> [anger]
<Sectuib Farris ambrov Zeor> [between gritted teeth] I'll find something on you Veraik and when I do........
<Veraik> Understood.
<Veraik> Do you swear it?
<Sectuib Farris ambrov Zeor> Why are you doing this for Alea?
<Veraik> Veraik stares at the Sectuib. She deserves better than being used and she WAS used. Even a renSime could zlin it.
<Sectuib Farris ambrov Zeor> [anger with a little something else in voice] I swear it. On the House of Zeor, I swear it.
<Veraik> I'll hold you to it.
<Veraik> But still, who should know, Alea will not go unpunished for her part. That I know.
<Veraik> Veraik leaves.
<Veraik> He walks to the edge of the woods then augments back towards Bender Cove.
<Veraik> ~~~The augmentation helps to clear his head but not by much.~~~

1) These events take place concurrent with the events of episodes #37 and #38. Veraik's player says that the last part does not tell all the details of the deal between the Sectuib and Veraik, and that those will be revealed later during play. [return]
